DIEGO EL CIGALA

THE MOST EXCITING AND INNOVATIVE FLAMENCO SINGER IN THE WORLD TODAY

The Spanish Romani flamenco singer Diego el Cigala never stands still. The word fusion could have been coined for him, for he has blended musical styles in magnificent fashion ever since his 1997 debut album Undebel, which put traditional flamenco into the mix with pop, folk and jazz, to stunning effect. Since then, the Madrid-born artist’s creativity has taken a leap forward with every new release, winning him a booming fan base throughout Latin America and Europe.

Diego El Cigala is, quite simply, the most exciting and innovative flamenco singer in the world today. Passionate, profound, and immensely proud of his Spanish gypsy heritage, El Cigala has been called “the Sinatra of flamenco.” His earthy and exultant and richly emotive voice marks him as one of the great singers of the last century. He is also one of those rare crossover artists who has stayed true to his musical heritage yet achieved name recognition with mainstream audiences around the world.

Australian fans will be thrilled that this amazing artist with his four piece band returns to Australia to perform two very special shows in Sydney and Melbourne in March 2016. His band are Yelsy Heredia on Double Bass, Isidro Suarez on Percussion, Jaime Calabuch on Piano and Diego Moreno on Spanish Guitar.
